Big West Festival

BigwestThe Big West Festival in Maribyrnong, Victoria, is on at the moment, and there will be lots of  activity and shows on around this coming weekend. Full program details are available here.

Highlights from a puppetry point of view will be these performances at the Village, The Village Railway Reserve (behind Footscray Station), McNab Ave, Footscray. Many of these shows will be during People's Day on Saturday, where entrance is  free  from 1 - 7.30 pm. After 7.30 some shows are ticketed, but there is still plenty free.

  • Nyets Nyets Picnic, by Snuff Puppets with Indigenous Artists. Dreaming stories and puppetry on a large scale, :
    Sat 3rd Dec, People's day, 2 -2.45 and  5.30 - 7.30pm
    Sun 4th Dec 4 - 6pm - roving entertainment
  • Puppet Peep Show
  • Men of Steel
    Three episodes each night!: In The Beginning, The Cinema, The Forest
    Devised and Performed By : Hamish Fletcher, Tamara Rewse and Sam Routledge. 
    Sound Design and Operation : Aaron Cuthbert
    Two Cookie Cutters escape from the second draw down and take on the modern world. With familiar kitchen utensils as puppets, Men of Steel is object theatre at its inventive best
    Thursday December 1 - Saturday December 3,  Saturday Matinee @  3:15pm, 4:00pm & 4:45pm
  • Foxy's House of Horror
    It's horrible, it's horrific, it's downright hilarious! Come and be horrified by the disturbing crocheting that is Foxy!
    Thursday Dec 1, 9pm.  Further details here .
  • And also:  the FABULOUS Megan 'Tex' Cameron in Andy Clockwise (you'll never look at knees in the same way again!) and Jacob Williams and Sarah Kriegler in Tiger Lillie Line.
