Barking Spider: Dispatch
Brisbane Festival 2008 presents BF08 under the radar featuring Dispatch by Barking Spider Visual Theatre
Dispatch is puppet theatre at its most delightful. Beautifully created & performed, it is a story about Sorrel, a girl who arrives in a leaky boat on an island guarded by the custodian of the dead. On the island are abandoned suitcases - Sorrel goes through these seeking shelter and refuge. She receives stories and lessons from the contents she finds within. Enthralling and timeless, Dispatch is a fascinating piece of puppet and Audio/Visual based contemporary theatre.
WINNER: The R.E.Ross Trust Playwright's Script Development Award in 2007,
"Dispatch is a worthy winner of this year's R. E. Ross Trust Playwright's Script Development Award. Bartlau has a strong command of magic realism, seeding her story with enchanting mini-narratives in a fluid manner.” The Age
PREMIERED: At the ASSITEJ 2008 World Congress and Festival of Theatre for Young People.
